The Ruby of the Orient[1] is the fifteenth episode of the second season of LoliRock.

Synopsis[]

The Lolirock Girls meet a local artist whose grandfather was accused of stealing a famous ruby, but the family claims her grandfather is innocent.[2]

Plot[]

Debra shows Nathaniel three sample menus she made for his smoothie bar. Iris, Talia, and Auriana enter the bar and walk over to them. Nathaniel notices them, and calls Iris over to see which menu she prefers. Nathaniel begins to introduce them to Debra, but she interrupts him and explains that she is familiar with Lolirock. Nathaniel then introduces Debra to Iris, Talia, and Auriana, adding that she is the best artist in town.

When Lolirock gets a new gig, they need to publicize it, so they request Debra to design flyers to which she enthusiastically agrees. Debra asks what kind of look they want for the art, and Auriana asks for her to try to tie together something with kittens, mini golf, and a Voltan marmoset. Talia shoots down the idea at once and asks instead for something that says Lolirock. Debra asks them to stop by her house in the afternoon to see her designs.

Visiting Debra at her stately but dilapidated home, the Princesses learn that her family is enduring hard times and is in danger of losing their house. Debra leaves to get the designs she made for them. When she returns, Auriana takes her art from her hands and shows it to Iris and Talia. After Iris’s pendant glows strangely when she’s near a painting, Debra tells the Princesses that her family has been living under a cloud ever since her great-grandfather, who painted the picture, was accused many years ago of stealing a gem called the Ruby of the Orient. Examining the painting more closely, Iris finds a scroll instructing the finder to help clear the great-grandfather’s name. The Princesses set out on a scavenger hunt-like quest that takes them to a museum where they retrieve another scroll from behind a painting. Debra distracts the museums security guard by asking him questions about a career in museum security while Iris, Talia, and Auriana sneak the painting off the wall to grab the next clue. She meets them outside, but she is called by the bank. She is told that they are seizing her house, and she rushes home to help her grandfather.

When the girls exit the museum, they’re confronted by the Twins who believe the girls are on the trail of an oracle gem and are determined to beat them to it. The Twins steal the second scroll and head off to find the next clue. Following from a distance, the Princesses watch as the Twins head into an abandoned mine shaft. Inside, the Princesses battle the Twins and get the ruby and eventually bring it back to the house.

They also find a note and picture from Debra’s great-grandfather explaining that he was the rightful owner of the ruby and why he had been wrongly accused of stealing it. Debra thanks the girls, and her grandfather pulls them into the hug. Debra and her grandfather are happy that their family honor has been restored. Plus, now that they have the ruby, they can sell it to be able to keep their home. And, thanks to Debra’s flyers, Lolirock’s next gig is a sold-out success, attended by Debra and her grandfather.
